FLOATIE

Experimental art installation

FLOATIE is an ongoing experimental art installation composed of a collection of inflatable light sculptures. Taking its cue from the sky, buoyant clouds gather into a pneumatic sunset, exploring light, color, and atmosphere.
Each cloud form is lightweight and air-filled, built to balance cartoonish antics with refined sculptural intent. The result is less an object than an environment — immersive and atmospheric, shifting with its surroundings.
FLOATIE takes its cue from the inflatable pool toy: buoyant, impermanent, a little absurd. It leans fully into the phantasmagoric qualities of the inflatable — lighthearted and delightful.
I want people to walk away with a romantic sensation, a playful feeling, and a peaceful thought.
The installation's latest version debuted for Albuquerque Gay Pride, partnering with local club kids and drag queens — local talents Cenit and Justin Christopher, alongside drag queens HÜMÅÑ PÉRSÖÑ, Carly Rico Quinn, and Kayla Chingada.
